William Loring’s will

Will of William Loring, proved 20 March 1416, in the Register of Archbishop of Canterbury Henry Chichele

William Loring had a lifelong career in the Church. He rose from a humble church appointment in County Durham to become canon, simultaneously, of Bangor, Salisbury, Wimborne and Lincoln. His will, entered in this register, bequeathed his collection of law books to Cambridge, where he may have been a Doctor of Civil Law. The reference to the University of Cambridge is in lines 13-14 of the right hand page.
