Un micro dans la bataille de Paris, 20–26 août 1944 (1)

Monaco: Les Éditions du Belvédère; Paris: Société française de radioproductions, [1945?]

An illustrated clothbound album of four 12-inch 33rpm ‘Pacific’ records.
The recordings were made in Paris between 20 and 26 August 1944 and the album was printed on 1 April 1945. It is important both for the recordings and for the images which interleave the record sleeves. There is a montage
of photographs, by Robert Doisneau (1912–1994) of young men throwing petrol bombs at German tanks, by Pierre Jahan (1909–2003) of police fighting on the roofs, together with a scene from the defence of Paris in the Franco-Prussian
War of 1870–1871. Linking the present with the past is the theme common to all
four interleaved pages.
