Thomas Hartwell Horne (1780–1862)
The campaign of Waterloo, illustrated with engravings of Les Quatre Bras… and other principal scenes of action… together with a grand view of the battle on a large scale
London: printed by T. Bensley and Son, for Robert Bowyer, 1816
Atlas.3.81.6
La Belle Alliance was in the centre of the French line at Waterloo. The low sun favoured by the engraver helpfully emphasizes undulations in the battlefield. A dog or two will often be found in prints of the period, adding movement and assisting scale.
