In the large scale print by Henri Demare, the “great triumphal entry” of the victorious Emperor Wilhelm Ist, Bismarck and their army in Berlin does not appear as a glorious military procession but is assimilated to a chaotic parade of rapacious soldiers bringing back a large and random assortment of spoils ranging from furniture to decorative objects, everyday items and even livestock. The French caption makes fun of the German accent.
