Hierocles of Alexandria (active 430)
Commentarius in aurea Pythagoraeum carmina
Padua: Bartholomaeus de Val de Zocco, 1474

Moore was renowned for his generosity in lending copies of his books to academics and other learned men, and he was frequently acknowledged in the prefaces of works, particularly in the classics. This early Italian edition of Hierocles was used by Joseph Needham in his 1709 edition of the text, and he further recognised Moore’s generosity by giving him a copy of the finished work in a fine presentation binding.
