This letter, probably by Irenaeus Crusius, is pasted into the front of a Wittenberg-printed Bible translated by Luther. The author states that he is aware Moore is looking for copies of the Bible, and offers this one at half a guinea: ‘It is a great curiosity’. Such lists of desiderata may well have been held by many booksellers for Moore; it certainly remains the practice amongst modern book dealers to build relationships with their customers whereby they are able to purchase items knowing that they will be able to sell them on. The letter includes a personal note; the author being afflicted with gout was unable to bring the volume in person.
