Some of the earliest paper toys books for children were produced from about 1810 onwards by the publishers S. and J. Fuller at the ‘Temple of Fancy’ in Soho. The Fullers were first and foremost toy manufacturers, but also invented successful paper doll books, which followed children in a series of moral adventures. The series included detached (and interchangeable) paper heads and several sets of clothes to which the head could be attached. Two of these books were donated to the Library: one has been beautiful bound, while the other conserves its original paper cover. Little Lauretta is a very recent acquisition and completes the series of these pretty little books which have become very rare.
