A six hundred year old catalogue

This register records the first books to be given to the University, and dates to 1424, less than a decade after the first wills to mention a University Library by name. Of the 122 titles listed here, the donors of 99 are named. Many were University members. Benefactors and donors remain key to the flourishing of the University Library, and this exhibition celebrates many friends, whose gifts (both small and large) have enriched our collections, research and discoveries over the six centuries of the Library’s existence.
