George Theodore Wilkinson
The Newgate calendar improved

London: T. Kelly & Co., [1820]

Mr Bird and his housekeeper were found dead from head wounds inflicted by a blunt instrument in this true account published in the Newgate calendar. Subsequently a hammer was found in a pond nearby, which matched the marks on the bodies and was identified by servants as having been missing ten days before the murder. Charles Hussey was arrested for possessing distinctive items that had been stolen from the house, and though protesting his innocence to the end, was hanged.
