The heart of a bandit
Madrid: Despacho, 1876
The story of the bandit Pedro Becerra is presented here to emphasize the noble motivation of Becerra in taking to banditry (it is to provide for his beloved), the generosity he shows to others, and his strong attachment to his daughter. He is rescued from execution by his bandit brothers and ends with his beloved. The emphasis of the narrative is clearly on nobility and generosity, and also makes much of the romantic interest of his life.
