Ketham’s blood-letting points

This Bundle of medicine was a compilation of medical texts on uroscopy, phlebotomy, gynecology, surgery, plague and anatomy that was well known by the end of the fourteenth century. This woodcut is in the section on phlebotomy, and shows the points on the body from which blood may be let for various ailments. For example, in the square in the top left corner, the text explains that blood-letting from the two veins behind the ear on either side is effective for good memory and cleansing the face of pustules and all other spots on the face.
