La anatomia de España
Spain, 1598

An example of Moore’s interest in the beautiful as well as the immediately practical, this gloriously-illustrated history of the House of Castile would have been a highlight of any gentleman’s library. The history begins with the intermingled (and sometimes combative) genealogical tables of the Castilian and other European noble houses from the twelfth century onwards, that here showing some of the descendants of James I the Conqueror of Aragon; the manuscript ends with the reign of Philip II of Spain.
