Doors to the Royal Studies

Bookcases for the Royal Library

The first bookcases for the Royal Library were made by local joiner John Austin in the old Law School, thereafter known as the West Room. Austin’s style was simple, with the only decoration being the ornamental gates for each study area in the corners of the room. These little cubby-holes remain in use in the modern Library building, used by project staff and known as the Royal Studies.
