Matthew Parker.
Catalogus cancellariorum …
London, 1572

This brief account of the University by Matthew Parker, Archbishop of Canterbury, appeared as an appendix to his more substantial work De antiquitate Britannicæ ecclesiæ, said to be the first book printed privately in England. This copy but was presented by Parker to Sir William Cecil, Chancellor of the University, with the hand-coloured illustration showing the Schools Quadrangle, in which the University Library was housed from the early fifteenth century until 1934.
