As well as the many daily expenditures relating to household life, Moore’s personal interests show clearly in this account book. The education of his children was a priority, with costs noted for the children’s schooling, and here, on 2 October 1691, ‘A spelling book for Miss Molly’, his daughter who was at that date aged 9.
