A saintly miracle
La estoire de seint aedward le rei
England, ca 1250
This manuscript is sole surviving copy of this Anglo-Norman translation of the Life of St Edward the Confessor. It was most probably composed by the chronicler Matthew Paris for Queen Eleanor, wife of Edward I, and includes over forty illustrations of the saint’s life. The page shown here is the miracle by which Edward restored sight to four blind men.
