In September 1918, the Soviet war machine introduced its first proper decoration, the Order of the Red Banner, and the military leadership took a new form in the Revvoensovet, the Revolutionary War Council, with Trotsky at its helm.  An exhibit about the Battle of Tsaritsyn shows the growing tensions between Trotsky and Stalin.  Meanwhile, the Red Terror took a more official form.

Allied and Central Power intervention continued.  British-Soviet relations declined severely, while the Battle of Baku saw Ottoman and Allied forces clash by the Caspian.  The final exhibit of the month looks at the fight for Kazan between the Red Army and the White forces of the Komuch.
