This striking illustration is a highly creative reimagining of several diagrams from different pages of Vesalius’ Fabrica. One dissected corpse plays the role of anatomist, holding open the skin of another to display the chest cavity. These two figures are found on pp. 259 and 260 of the Fabrica, shown as ‘Related items’ below.
