University Library, MS Add. 2751 (16)
England?, late thirteenth/early fourteenth century
Vellum, 205 x 155 mm (168 x 120 mm), 1 f.

This is a fragment of Gui de Warewic, a romance in French about an English hero, which was also to receive an English translation. This page was found in an old book cover by F. J. H. Jenkinson. Markings from the glue which held it in place are still visible. This section of the text tells of Gui’s defeat of a dragon and his betrothal to the beautiful Felice. This fragment was acquired by the University Library in the early twentieth century from Jenkinson’s own collection.
