This beautifully illuminated Book of Hours has been traced to two early women owners, Claire Tournois in the seventeenth century, and Jeanne Silvestre in the eighteenth century. It eventually became part of the collection of the first Baron Amherst of Hackney and was sold upon his death at Sotheby’s to Arthur William Young, who presented it to the Library in 1933.
