Alger: Éditions de la Revue Fontaine, 1944
First published clandestinely in 1943 as by François La Colère, Aragon’s pseudonym, the Revue Fontaine edition shown here and a reprint by Éditions de Minuit were both published in October 1944. La Revue Fontaine was an important poetry review published in Algiers by Max-Pol Fouchet. The book has been referred to as ‘violent satire’, satire that is reflected in the title – the name of the Waxworks Museum in Paris.
