The Collectar is a quite rare form of liturgical book which survives in relatively few numbers in manuscripts. This is probably because its textual content duplicates part of the Breviary and could be read using that book. It contains the Capitula (little chapters) which are short biblical readings read at the day hours, and the Collects read at Lauds and the day hours. These Collects are the same text as the Collects used in the Missal at the beginning of Mass. On this page are the Capitula for First Vespers, Lauds, Terce, Sext and None, Quasi stella matutina, Spiritus meus qui est in te and Lex veritatis fuit in ore eius, for the feast of Dominic on 4 August. The first has an illuminated initial to which a small border spray is attached. On one page of the book is the inscription De dono prioris Willelmi Lynne. William Lynne was prior of Dunstable during the fifteenth century but his exact dates have yet to be determined.
