This alms list preserves the details of over 100 people who were altogether given 400 loaves of bread from public charity. The list includes widows, orphans, and mothers-in-law, men who were blind or deaf, and North African and European immigrants, such as ‘the Berber woman’ or ‘the newcomer from Byzantium’.
