Parts I–III of Czargrad were first printed together in Riley’s pamphlet collection Ways of approaching, although already before the pamphlet was published Riley reported to Michael Grant in a letter dated 18 November [1973] that Part III had ‘undergone a refit, changed I hope for the better but certainly for the duration’.
