Apart from a study for this work (Add. 9272/1/5), no other drawings were produced to depict Cockerell’s perfunctory effort of compliance with the competition programme. Numbered first in the sequence, the absence of colour or detail in the drawing would have made the subsequent depictions of the principal design appear all the more spectacular.
