Revised design, 1837

Presentation drawing
C.R. Cockerell and assistants, 1837
Ground plan with east, west and south elevations. Pen and wash. 97×64
MS Add.9272/4/44

The revised design was shown to the university in a pair of large drawings with plans and elevations. Outside of the competition context, the presentation is straightforward, with no artistic flourishes or unnecessary detail. However by compressing the elevations together, Cockerell reinforces the significance of his new triumphal arch motif: it appears six times on this one drawing.
